Currently Reading (on My Amazon Kindle):
Child 44
...a murder thriller set in communist Russia.  What makes this interesting?  Russia does not recgonize murder, as it is contrary to the perfect ideals of communism.  Authorities are slow investigate the case except for the courage of one man ousted from political favor.
Patriotic Grace
... why politics today have become so polarized and how we can get back to making America strong again by working together.
An Introduction to Political Philosophy
...what constitutes communism, socialism, Marxism, democracy, republics, etc.  A fascinating read of political history and how it applies to today.  I'm reading it to determine which path(s) most represent today's US politicians.
The Billionaire Who Wasn't:  How Chuck Feeney Made and Gave Away a Fortune Without Anyone Knowing
...fascinating story of how ingenuity & hard work triumphs in America.  The story of Chuck Feeney (majority shareholder in the private DFS ... you know, those duty-free shops in strategic tourist locations) and how he amassed billions yet gave it back to society and needy causes ... all in secret.  Makes Warren Buffet and Bill Gates look like chumps.

Other Books I Like:
Bonjour Laziness:  Why Hard Work Doesn't Pay
... all the rage in France, it's a tone for the modern worker showcasing examples of what is wrong with corporate society (at least in France) and why it pays to be lazy (if you're in a socialist economy).
A Short History of Nearly Everything
...a fantastic walk through time, science and history all with a fast-paced narrative to keep the reader truly interested.  After reading this book, I wanted to learn more ... about everything.  Forget High School Musical, this book should be required reading for anyone in high school.
Religious Literacy
...what's the difference between sects believing in Christianity, Catholicism, and other world religions?  This book will tell you, and even may surprise you.  It also examines some of today's "religious truths"  that people cling to and how over time these religious facts have been misconstrued by the populous.
The World is Flat

... how outsourcing is forcing a new global economy to emerge.  Is the US ready?
FAB: From Personal Computers to Personal Fabrication
... from MIT, examples of how manufacturing is getting personal, allowing people to setup their own mini-fabrication labs at home or in their communities, and the network of design technology that supports it.  Could this counter-balance outsourced manufacturing, allowing for design and manufacturing freedom on a global scale?
The Persian Boy
...a telling account of Alexander the Great.
The Spartans
...one of the greatest societies in History, a chronicle of the Spartan way of life and the Athenian war.
The New Financial Order
...How new concepts on risk will lead to an ever-increasing array of insurance opportunities.

Philanthropy:
Room To Read.   Here's a great organization I support.  They build community libraries and schools in developing countries (Vietnam, Cambodia, etc.) and stock them with books.  The provide under-privileged children with the opportunity of education.
